Kelly Mitchell is originally from Tulare, CA and moved to Ohio to pursue her Ph.D. with Dr. Jeff Firkins in 2017. Previously, Kelly earned her B.S. in Animal Sciences and M.S. in Animal Biology at the University of California, Davis. Her M.S. thesis project focused on the prevention of ketosis in commercial dairy herds in Tulare, CA under Dr. Heidi Rossow. At the Ohio State University, she is a research associate and Ph.D. Candidate in The Ohio State University Ph.D. Program in Nutrition. Her research area of interest is the interaction of nutrition and rumen microbiology and rumen microbial fat metabolism.
